Welcome to the School of Fine Arts
The School of Fine Arts was established in 1882 as the Canterbury College School of Art. It is the longest established art school in New Zealand and one of the oldest in the English speaking world. The School of Fine Arts has a substantial reputation both in New Zealand and internationally, for education of students, as well as for the professional profiles of the graduates within this school. The school offers practical studies in sculpture, painting, printmaking, photography, film and design, with students also having access to the full range of courses and other resources offered in the University.

New Centre Director
The School of Fine Arts welcomes Dr Amanda Morris who comes to the position of Director for Fine Arts, Music and Theatre from NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art), Sydney where she was Head of Open Programme.

2008 Pacific Rim International Print Exhibition
This exhibition featured artists from the nations and cultures of the Pacific Rim and Basin, who were invited to present works in an extensive range of printmaking media.
